Humboldt State University and Plan it Green will co-host a lecture by world-renowned climate strategist and energy specialist Jorgen Randers Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room.
World-renowned climate strategist and energy specialist Jorgen Randers will discuss climate change, sustainability and his most recent book “2052: A global forecast for the next 40 years” Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in the Kate Buchanan Room.
A professor of climate strategy at the BI Norwegian Business School, Randers will discuss climate change, sustainability and his most recent book 2052: A global forecast for the next 40 years. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Jorgen Randers’s book “Limits to Growth, 2052” explores what the world will be like in 2052.
Randers’ writing on sustainability attracted national attention in 1972 when he co-authored Limits to Growth, a groundbreaking book that modeled unchecked population and economic growth in the face of finite resources.
Released forty years after Limits to Growth, 2052 draws on Randers’ decades of experience in sustainability and the predictions of 35 leading scientists, economists and others to predict what the world will look like in 2052. Among the questions he answers:
- How many people will the planet need to support in 2052?
- Will there be enough energy and food?
- Will the race toward renewable energy succeed?
- And which nations will prosper and which will suffer?
Tickets are not required and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A video of Randers’ lecture will be available on Plan it Green’s website following the event.
