Con Ritmo!, formerly known as Orquesta del Ritmo Cruz, is a Latin influenced jazz group that was founded in January of 2014. Con Ritmo! is the direct product of Bossa Continuo, which was a smaller ensemble in the Humboldt State University jazz program under the direction of Dr. Dan Aldag. The entire twelve-piece ensemble is comprised of students and graduates of Humboldt State University, the majority being music majors.

Con Ritmo!'s full sound is comprised of two trumpet players, two saxophonists, one trombonist, and a flute player, as well as a full, six-piece rhythm section including bass, timbales, congas, piano, bass guitar, and auxiliary percussion. Our rhythm section has been coached by local Latin Jazz aficionados such as David Penalosa, Dr. Eugene Novotney, and Howie Kaufman.

Our influences are drawn from renowned Latin Jazz musicians such as Tito Puente, Mongo Santamaria, Arturo Sandoval, Eddie Palmieri, Paquito D?Rivera, etc? These artists, along with many others, comprise a large portion of our repertoire list. We have performed at multiple community events including the Humboldt Arts Festival, and the 2014 Graduation Parade and private parties.
