Humboldt Orchid Society Show
The Humboldt Orchid Society (HOS), the local nonprofit chapter of the American Orchid Society, will hold it’s annual fundraising Fall Orchid Show on April 19, 2014 from 9am to 5pm at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, 921 Waterfront Drive, Eureka, CA. Everyone is invited to attend, a $2.00 donation is suggested.
The Orchid Show will feature a display of orchids grown locally by members of the HOS. Plants on display will feature orchids easily grown in the home or on the patio, as well as exotic orchids requiring greenhouse culture. There is sure to be an orchid you’ve never seen before! There will also be an information display of carnivorous plants, always popular with school age children.
The ever-popular Plant Doctor will be available throughout the show to answer questions about a particular orchid, offer repotting and culture tips. A fund-raising raffle will be held (need not be present to win) for items donated by local businesses. Unique orchids and carnivorous plants from around the world will be available for purchase from local orchid growers. If you can grow houseplants, you can grow an orchid in your home.
