HSU Guitar Ensemble
Tunes from Cuba, Mexico and the Andes, accompanied by bass, conga and flute highlight the HSU Guitar Ensemble performance of Central and South American music, with guest appearance by soprano Elisabeth Harrington. “Each piece on the program is coming from a different place,” said Guitar Ensemble director Nicholas Lambson. “Some are directly based on folk melodies, some are complex modern works. Some are aligned with Western European styles and some are improvisatory. Many combine these elements into unique pieces of music that represent a complex and intimate relationship with the guitar.”
