HAT MAKING: with Amy Fowler, of Humboldt Haberdashery
SCRAP is very excited to have Amy Fowler, local hat maker and owner of Humboldt Haberdashery, hosting her popular and inspiring Hat Making class just in time for New Years Eve festivities! Amy will teach you how to create your own unique fascinator hat using a variety of materials. By layering scraps of fabrics, ribbons, and other trims, we will spruce up a basic hat form into a wearable piece of art. Explore techniques of making flowers from different materials, and experiment with millinery materials such as sinamay, crinoline and birdcage netting. All materials will be provided, including a variety of hat bases to build upon, decorative fabrics, and trims. Depending on your creative detail, two hats should be able to be finished in a two-hour class. Ages 8 and up, with paid adult accompaniment. All materials provided.
