Friendly Henderson Center Block Party

Friendly Henderson Center’s Merchant Association (HCMA) is raising money for a trolley and at the same time throwing a big Block Party for the neighborhood! According to Chrissy Ross, head of the Block Party committee and manager at Annie’s Shoes, Henderson Center for years offered free rides to the community on a trolley that was owned by Blue Ox Millworks and sponsored by Shafer’s Ace Hardware. Ross said, “The kids and their parents loved riding the trolley. It was always a big event! Unfortunately, last year the trolley broke down and was not repairable. There were some disappointed kids. So the Merchant’s Association is determined to bring back the trolley but we need the community’s help.” The trolley is expected to cost about $20,000. It will be used for events in the Henderson Center area such as the holiday open house and any other events HCMA holds throughout the year. The Association also anticipates renting out the trolley for a small fee to other merchant associations or groups for use with their events. So it would be a “community trolley” in that sense. The Block Party will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 11am to 3pm. 50/50 tickets are being sold at participating merchants right now and will be sold on the day of the event as well. The 50/50 drawing will be at 2:30pm on July 13th. The winner will take home 50% of the prize money with the other 50% going to the trolley fund. Other fun happenings at the Block Party include: Live Music Food Sidewalk Sales Vendor Booths Fun activities for kids Dunk Tank Bounce House Dutch Auction More Bring a lawn chair and come enjoy the music and fun!
