Everyone is a Scientist Celebration

Everyone is invited to the Turf Room at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds for an evening of presentations, complimentary hors d'oeuvres catered by Uniquely Yours and a cash bar, and an opportunity to view and discuss the results of the Redwood Roots Farm “Everyone is a Scientist” event earlier in the day. NOTE: You do not have to attend the earlier Redwood Roots Farm event in order to join us in the celebration!

Come mingle with friends and neighbors, and learn more about our local forest biodiversity with a presentation by Michael Kauffmann, local author of Conifer Country and The Conifers of the Pacific Slope.

Event Registration: To confirm enough refreshments for everyone, please let us know that you are coming by May 7th by calling our office at 707-445-7351 or visit us on-line at http://ucanr.edu/survey/survey.cfm?surveynumber=12860.

Michael Kauffmann—scientist and author—will share how his passion for exploring wild places morphed into a quest to map the biogeographic distribution and interpret the ecological interactions among conifer species in the Klamath Mountains. These efforts, over a 10 year period and continuing today, became a Master's Degree and ultimately a published a book. We are in a brave new era where relationships to natural history can promote citizen science through connecting to and then interpreting the natural world. Hear the story of how conifers (and many other natural phenomena) have driven Michael's explorations and inquiry-based discoveries across the Klamath Mountain Region (and beyond) and why he is hopeful that these approaches will help re-connect our species to the natural world.
