ENC/HBAC Lecture Series

Explore North Coast and the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center as co-sponsors are pleased to announce that Troy Nicolini will be returning for our March Event to do a presentation on wind. Troy is the Meteorologist in Charge of the National Weather Service office on Woodley Island. An overview will be provided regarding forces that cause wind along the northern California coast and how that knowledge can be used to be safer while boating in our coastal waters and bays. A reliable method for estimating wind speed while on the water will also be provided. The focus will be on the North Coast but some comparisons to other parts of the west coast will be made that can help folks to travel to boat at other latitudes. At the end of the talk, participants will have a better understanding of why it is windy, whether it is going to be gusty, and how the wind might change over time. The lecture is scheduled for Monday, March 11th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic Center, 921, Waterfront Drive, Eureka. The public is invited and admission is free.
