Eastern European and Balkan Music Meetup
You are invited to play and sing a variety of Eastern European, Balkan, and international folk music with a community music group at the Creative Sanctuary at 1301 J Street in Arcata! All instruments and levels are welcome. Beginning in a couple of weeks, we will meet for a 6-week session on Monday evenings from 7:00 – 8:30 on these dates: Sept. 23, 30, Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28 We would like to encourage people to participate as consistently as possible during the 6-week period to help with planning and building a repertoire. The Oct. 14 session will be a special workshop with members of Bulgarika, the group of Bulgarian professional musicians who will be coming through Arcata as part of a nationwide tour. Donation requested toward hall rental and materials is $25 pre-paid for the 6 weeks or $7 drop in, and includes the workshop with Bulgarika which would otherwise cost $10 separately. (However, no one will be turned away due to finances, and work exchange options are available.) We would also like to thank the Sanctuary for giving us a discounted rate on rent for the space.
