Downstream Designs Storm Drain Mural Unveiling

Join Arcata Recreation for our highly anticipated Downstream Design Storm Drain Mural Unveiling. The City of Arcata is now adorned with four new vibrant storm drain murals, created by local artists. On Saturday, October 17, during Farmer’s Market, check-in between 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.at our information booth on the Arcata Plaza (corner of H and 8th Streets) to pick up a Downstream Designs walking tour brochure. Walk or shuttle to each mural site to view these works of art, meet each artist and participate in interactive educational activities promoting stormwater pollution prevention. Downstream Designs is a unique and educational public art project funded by the California Coastal Commission’s Whale Tail Program. This mural project utilizes art to draw attention to the usually discreet concrete and iron infrastructure reminding us all that stormwater flows untreated into our urban creeks, streams, and finally our local Humboldt Bay.
