Community Vision Day
On Saturday, November 2nd, 2013, A to Z Eye Care and Eureka Host Lions Club will hold their annual Community Vision Day. They will be providing complimentary eye exams and prescription eyeglasses to those in the local community who are in need of these services. Staff and doctors of A to Z Eye Care will be donating time, equipment and expertise to provide comprehensive vision exams to more than 30 recipients. The Lions Club will be reviewing the applications to determine eligibility and need.
The Community Vision Day will be held at the office of A to Z Eye Care in Arcata. Those interested in this free service should submit an application to the Eureka Host Lions Club postmarked no later than October 18th, 2013.
The Lions Club has been a pioneer in the pursuit of vision for everyone for nearly 100 years. They have helped to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye care for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Lions Club volunteers are actively involved in vision screenings, eye banks (for tissue donation) and eyeglass recycling.
For many years, A to Z Eye Care has been a collection location for the Lions Club’s glasses recycling program. They have collected, refurbished and redistributed used eye glasses around the world. For the Community Vision Day, A to Z Eye Care will also be partnering with Essilor International to provide the prescription eyeglasses and other supplies free of charge to the local community.
