Coiled Basketry with Repurposed Materials
This inexpensive and functional craft will teach the ancient technique of basket coiling, while experimenting with repurposing more modern materials. While learning how to make sturdy baskets, coasters or placemats you will have the opportunity to play with colors and shapes to make your project one-of-a-kind. All materials are supplied but participants are welcome to bring any supplies from their own collection. Materials saved from the landfill: mylar balloons, one-time-use shopping bags, newspaper, junk mail, chip bags, fabric, twine, etc. Skills you'll learn: basket weaving, coiling technique Ages 12 and up, with paid adult accompaniment.
