Camp SCRAP Kinetics

Kinetics is described by the Glorious Founder, Hobart Brown as, “Adults having fun so children will want to grow up.” On Memorial day this year all the grown ups will have just finished their weekend of glory, but what about the kids? SCRAP Humboldt will host their own creative reuse kinetic race for kids in 1st-5th grade. At this single-day camp teams will be formed, songs created, costumes designed and a glorious group of kinetic youngsters born. This creative reuse art camp takes place in SCRAP’s Education Studio located inside SCRAP Humboldt’s creative reuse store at 101 South H Street, Arcata in The Marsh District. If you miss the chance to join this Camp SCRAP Kinetics, don’t worry SCRAP’s hosting five weeks of a variety of themed summer camps. Check out SCRAP’s website to learn more! Skills learned in Camp SCRAP improve behavior and encourage children to consider their impact on the environment. This camp focuses on the multitude of creative reuse kinetic projects that divert fabric, paper, plastic and wood from the landfill and get campers working with their hands to solve problems. Participants will work in a safe, supportive, and inspiring environment. Pre-register online at scraphumboldt.org for $35 for the day. Additionally, SCRAP offers a sibling price for $30. SCRAP Humboldt is Humboldt County’s first creative reuse center located in The Marsh District, on the corner of South G and H Street in Arcata and is a 501c3 nonprofit. SCRAP Humboldt plays a vital role in the community by diverting usable materials from the waste stream, educating people about creative reuse and providing inexpensive art, craft, and office supplies to our community.
