August Open House

Willow Creek Artists Take Center Stage in August Two local Willow Creek artists will share the spotlight at Studio 299’s monthly Open House on August 9th. Watercolors by Renate Walker and colorful abstracts by Patricia Reeb will be on display this month at the Willow Creek gallery. “A purple thistle grew in my yard and I brought it inside to paint” says Walker in describing how she was inspired to create her work. “Within days it went to seed, filling my room with downy fluff in slow motion. The red thistle (thistle names vary) stood by a roadside like a candelabra. It too went to seed. Their color got more vivid as they aged and most intense when drying up. Trying to capture this process was very moving.” For Patricia Reeb art is a very personal process as well. Painting brings peace and calm to Patricia. She reacts in the moment, spontaneously, by feeling what color "feels" right. Color therapy has been a tool for her healing, as colors painted out tend to reflect our unconscious emotions and fears, and bring them to the forefront for us to examine, thereby ridding us of our negative emotions. She refers to her art as “abstract impressions, soul painting with no rules”. Studio 299’s monthly Open House on Saturday August 9th is free to the public. The Gallery Opening and Reception will be held on from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at 75 The Terrace in Willow Creek. The public is invited to attend and enjoy complimentary refreshments, discover local art and build community. Studio 299 is a non-profit community group devoted to the promotion and development of the arts in the Klamath and Trinity communities of Northern California. The gallery and gift shop is located at 75 The Terrace in Willow Creek. Completed in 2012, the multipurpose gallery offers an attractive location for the community to come together at monthly openings, open mike nights, and special events and during gallery hours.
