30 on the 30th

On Saturday, September 30th, Sanctuary Forest will be celebrating 30 years of conservation at their 30 on the 30th event at the Beginnings Octagon in Briceland! Join us at 6pm for dinner, dancing, and a silent auction. Opening the festivities will be Jammies By 9 (formerly known as EZ Money), a five piece band that plays an electric list of some of your favorite tunes. With Tom Lasbury on lead vocals, guitar and bass, Jeanne York on guitar, ukulele and vocals, Brad Jenkins on saxophone and vocals, Randy Clark on drums, percussion and vocals and Richard Barnick on bass, vocals and guitar. Jammies By 9, not just a cool band name but a lifestyle as well. But don’t get into your jammies just yet – we’ll just be getting warmed up! Since 2009, Oakland, California-based Candelaria has been moving dance floors all over the West Coast and Midwest with their unique sound. Candelaria’s recordings and live performances are unforgettable, as they combine infectious, soulful Colombian cumbia rhythms with vibrant horns, incendiary country guitar, powerful female-fronted vocals, and a dose of Jamaican dub technique in real-time using live effects. With all of these elements, Candelaria has developed their own high-energy sound that explodes with contagious dance grooves. Candelaria has perfomed at major festivals such as Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, BlissFest, Joshua Tree, Oracle Oneworld, Mateel Summer Arts, Bastille Days and Lightning in a Bottle. They have toured the US playing shows and festivals sharing the stage with Dumpstaphunk, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bomba Estereo, Chico Trujillo, Damien Marley, Ozomatli, Blackalicious, and many others. So come please your taste buds with amazing Asian cuisine by chef Nancy Miyamoto, dance to the beats of Candelaria and Jammies by 9 (formerly known as EZ Money), bid on breathtaking original artwork, enjoy refreshing beers and wines--and do it with the knowledge that all proceeds go directly to continuing the conservation and restoration of the Mattole River watershed—work that reaches far beyond the watershed, that has the potential to keep all our local rivers and streams flowing, and that provides crucial education to agencies, organizations and communities all over the west coast. Doors @ 6:00 p.m. Entrance is $30 at the door and includes dinner. For more information contact anna@sanctuaryforest.org or call 707-986-1087 ext. 9#.
