Monday Lowdown: Enter a World of Pain (or Peace)

Fuck it, Dude. Let’s go bowling.

Your Humboldt Monday steps over the line at The Jam in Arcata where local devotees to The Big Lebowski will gather to celebrate 21 years of quoting the Coen brothers cult classic to each other. To commemorate the occasion there will be a screening of the movie followed by a special thrown-together cover band playing all the Creedence you could ever need (probably some Eagles too, sadly). Attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite character from the film and enjoy $5 White Russians all night. Far out.

Elsewhere, the Zero to Fierce Festival continues at the Arcata Playhouse with a screening of Peace Pilgrim, a documentary chronicling the travels of pacifist activist Mildred Norman. Starting in 1953 Norman would spend 28 years walking over 25,000 miles around the United States promoting peace. Get to know Mildred a bit more in the clip below.

More details on those events and others in your Lowdown listings below.--Andrew Goff
