Thursday Lowdown: Activist Alicia Garza Cancels Tonight's Appearance at HSU

Bummer news for those who'd been looking forward to a lil' soul boost from Alicia Garza.  The author and activist was scheduled to speak Thursday night in Humboldt State University's Van Duzer Theatre but, as happens 'round these parts from time to time, the appearance was thwarted by Mother Nature:

From HSU:

We are sorry to inform you that Alicia Garza has had to cancel her lecture event that was scheduled for Thursday, February 9. Ms. Garza has a commitment related to her ongoing social justice work scheduled in the Bay Area for the day after she planned to appear at HSU. Due to the current travel and weather situation, she was concerned that she would not be able to return in time.

We will be issuing refunds for all ticket holders as soon as possible. For more information please call the University Ticket Office at 707-826-3928.
