OK, turkey. Since you're here we'll note a few out-of-the-house Thanksgiving day Humboldt gatherings you can participate in after you're banished from your grandparents' place for disparaging Trump's cabinet picks:

Trinidad Blessing of the Fleet

Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse / 10-11 a.m.

This is a family-friendly, community event. Axel Lindgren III and his family will give a traditional Native blessing facing to the four directions followed by a non-denominational blessing from Pastor Allison Berry from the Church of the Joyful Healer.

Community Thanksgiving Dinner

Arcata Community Center / noon-3 p.m.

"Open to everyone in the community, please join us for a celebration with live music throughout the day, as well as a delicious home-cooked meal."

Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot

Old Town Gazebo / 9 a.m. / $10 / $20 w/ shirt

Three mile run/walk. Proceeds go to local cross country teams. Registration on race day will be at Old Town Coffee and Chocolates. Register at Old Town Coffee and Chocolates starting at 7:30 a.m.

Humboldt Ice Rink

Newburg Park / 10 a.m.-8 p.m. / $12 / $8 children 12 and under

"The rink will be staffed by local community groups, including various school clubs and sporting teams, local service clubs, and more."
