Monday Lowdown: Tip Top Titters (PLUS: Gunsafe Returns!)

Strip clubs are not venues one generally frequents looking for laughs (and if you do, let’s just assume that the dancers hate you). Recently, though, The Fabulous Tip Top Gentleman’s Club just south of Eureka has been experimenting by designating some nights for more-clothed entertainment. In addition to DJ nights, the club has hosted several Savage Henry comedy nights also featuring local burlesque performers, a throwback to the types of shows where standup comedy gained the form we’ve come to know today.

Anyway, they’re doing another one of those. Tonight the Tip Top will host the third edition of The Tease, which will be headlined by the series’ most notable out-of-county yuk-slinger to date, Dave Ross. In addition to appearances on Comedy Central’s Drunk History and Marc Maron’s WTF Podcast, Ross hosts the podcast Terrified on the Nerdist network which features comedian sharing their fears and sadnesses. Funny stuff! Sample Ross' standup in the clip below.

What else does this Humboldt Monday promise? Let's see... Hey! Gunsafe is back! The longtime local rough country group — fueled in great part by frontwoman Stella Martinez — is blowing through town as part of a Pacific Northwest tour. They will burn down the Eureka Inn’s Palm Lounge tonight.

More joy (including where you can catch a band named Drown in Piss) in your Lowdown listings below. —Andrew Goff
