Wednesday Lowdown: Tall Ships Love Eureka So Much They’re Going to Hang Out Here Longer

Ho! News today that Humboldt Bay will retain its current pirate-ish aesthetic. The tall ships Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain are extending their Eureka stay through Sunday — they were initially slated to leave today. This means additional chances to head down to the Bonnie Gool Dock for walk-on tours, evening sails and/or to watch the vessels faux blast it out during their “Battle Sail” exhibition. More details on the ships’ schedules here.

As far as more standard Lowdown fare, do note a pair of talks worth attending up in Arcata tonight courtesy of anti-consumerist quasi-spiritual figure Reverend Billy (Northtown Books) and Q-Fest keynote speaker Dr. Salvador Vidal-Ortiz (HSU Native Forum).

You come to the Lowdown for music? There is some of that this hump day. HumBrews is allowing its stage to be utilized by “alternative reggae” band and avowed Sublime fans The Movement who hail from Jah-loving Columbus, South Carolina.
