Friday Lowdown: Crabs, Dance, Island Sounds, and Too Many Bands

An eclectic mix of visual and aural options for Humboldt’s Friday fun fanciers:

The sounds of smaller land masses will emanate from the Arcata Theatre Lounge thanks to the Queens of the Islands Tour. The double bill features Hawaiian folk/pop star Anuhea and Jamaican reggae singer Etana. Sample both artists’ styles in the pair of videos below.
The twirling beauties at North Coast Dance have managed to swipe the keys to the Arkley Center for their annual Spring Show featuring a grab bag choreography selections from West Side Story to Swan Lake.
Crabs! Crabs! Crabs!
No less than seven local band-y bands will split haunt Blue Lake and Eureka at a pair of cool kids shows. Roll call! Logger Bar: Let it Fever, The Lost Luvs, Monster Women; Siren’s Song Tavern: Coffin Moth, Smooth Weirdos, Dead Drift, The Mother Vines. Let sound and beer wash over you.
If those those new-fangled groups above seem like they’d require more thinking than you wanted to do on a Friday, you can always zone out to top shelf Grateful Dead covers somewhere in Humboldt (tonight it’s with Miracle Show at Humboldt Brews).
