(VIDEO) Will This YouTube Clip Help a Local Bluegrass Band Make it on NPR?

Mmm. This Humboldt Friday’s entertainment buffet features an assortment of aural flavors including funk, punk, metal, r&b, a sax quartet and a Tom Petty sing-a-long in a casino. You are blessed.

One other gathering we for sure want to highlight is the local music showcase taking place at Humboldt Brews featuring the finest in local string strummin’ courtesy of the No Good Redwood Ramblers and the Lyndsey Battle Trio. Speaking of the Ramblers, they are currently campaigning to be featured as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert web series where bands invade NPR's offices in Washington and play amongst desks and cubicles. Currently, NPR is holding a contest that required bands to submit a video to be judged by staff. The winner will be announced on Feb. 12.

Now, the amount of views entrant’s videos receive does not seem to have any bearing on whether that band wins or not, but it can’t hurt, right? So watch the Ramblers clip for their song “California Chrome” below and also tune into KHUM this afternoon at around 4:30 p.m. when the boys will pick and grin for DJ Larry Trask.
