Willy Porter (Guy at the Playhouse Tonight) is Really Good at Guitar (VIDEO)
Geez. Even if virtuosic guitar playing ain't your bag, baby, you've kinda gotta respect the fact that six-string magician Willy Porter is on another plane. As evidenced in the clip above, Porter successfully marries dizzying dexterity with an ear for tranquilizing melody -- dude is flashy, but not in that annoying way.
Humboldt audiences have two opportunities to experience Mr. Porter Wednesday. The most obvious way would be his performance with opener singer/songwriter Martyn Joseph at the Arcata Playhouse. Also note that he will dazzle KHUM's Larry Trask live on 104.3/104.7 'round 'bouts 3 p.m. Rotate your dials.
Elsewhere Wednesday, indie bluegrass quintet Greensky Bluegrass pick away at the Arcata Theatre Lounge (sample their brand below), the world-renowned eye/ear candy that is Blue Man Group will be on display for their second of two nights within the Van Duzer Theatre -- word is they are rockin' six (6) semi trucks worth of equipment, people! -- and it's the second day of the Annual International Latino Film Festival at The Minor.
