Wednesday, April 23's Lowdown

Your Humboldt Wednesday is highlighted by two competing shows in Arcata featuring ambitious solo artists who, in addition to being multi-instrumentalists, also happen to beatbox. So let’s check their skillz:

  • In this corner, singer/songwriter Lynx who has had the opportunity to improv collaborate with the likes of Matisyahu, John Popper, Beats Antique and Bassnecter over the years. She’ll be at the Arcata Theatre Lounge tonight. Take it away, Lynx:

  • In this corner, soulful, R&B-tinged acoustic guitarist/vocalist Zach Deputy who will bring his one man band-ish show to the hallowed HumBrews stage. Zach takes a bit longer to get to his beatboxing in the clip below. Bear with him:

Well, Lowdown readers? Whose mouth rhythms won your allegiance? Plan your night accordingly.

Godlin Gets Behind

Gabe Rozell, my favorite Blue Laker, and his songwriting friends grace the Shanty tonight. They will  grace your earholes too if you show up. The absolute thing to do on a Wednesday evening.(Is it Blue Lakian?)
