Where Humboldt Can Get Its Ray Charles Tribute Tonight (VIDEO)

Your Lowdown has the unfortunate duty of informing you that Ray Charles died in 2004. So if you never had the pleasure of hearing them pipes live, uh, bad news …

Plan B! Your next best option takes the stage Friday night at the Arcata Theatre Lounge. There, Humboldtians have the opportunity to have their ears filled with Zach Deputy's soulful vocals as he fronts's saxophonist Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. And they're just gonna go ahead and blast out Ray Charles songs all night. That's right. They're gonna make it do what it do, baby?

Can they do Ray justice? We would submit to you as Exhibit A the amateur YouTube video we dug up below of the band ripping through "Unchain My Heart" as proof that they can. But you be the judge. Other less rhythmic options in your Friday Lowdown farther down.
