Pick a day

Thursday, May 23, 2013's Lowdown

Hmm, so there's this singer and acoustic guitarist known as Bob Dylan -- have you heard of this guy? Obscure as his music may be, the man somehow has a fairly impressive Humboldt following. So devoted are this odd bunch of fans to Mr. Dylan that they will gather to celebrate the man's 72nd birthday on, not one, but two nights.

On Thursday starting at 5 p.m., Mad River Brewery will be filled with Mr. Dylan's to-this-point mostly unheard words and melodies as interpreted by local soundmakers The Rezonators, Trillium, Jeff Kelley, Lauren Smith and Nola Pierce, Wolf Navarro, Rachel Becarria with Patrick Cleary and Zach Zwerdling and Electro Saloon.

At Humboldt Brews on Friday, starting at 9 p.m. a different set of Dylanites -- The Trouble, The Miracle Show, The Foggy Bottom Boys and Kulica -- will shine a light on Bob's ditties.

So, happy birthday, Bob Dylan, whoever you are. It appears fame has finally found you.
