(UPDATE) Humboldt's Shrek Needs a Drummer Pretty Damn Quick!

UPDATE: A hero has stepped up. The Shrek drummer slot has been filled. From conductor Justin Sousa:

Bob Higgons, who also performed in HLOC's The Full Monty a couple years ago has joined the production and we are whole again. Our previous set player had a family emergency, thanks to the music and theater community and LoCO for helping getting the word out!

Thanks, y'all. -AG

In case you haven't already heard, it's about to be ogre season in HumCo. Shrek is coming to the Van Duzer Theatre stage in musical form courtesy of the Humboldt Light Opera Company and runs Aug. 2-18. How serious is this production? Pictured here is local actor/singer/longtime Jitter Bean barista Tristin Roberts in full green glory. That makeup job ain't amateur hour. They're goin' for it. Should be a spectacle.

One slight snag. Your Lost Coast Outpost has learned that less than a week out from curtains up, Shrek finds itself without a drummer for their live band. It's not easy being green. So who's gonna step it up? Sight reading and experience working with a conductor preferred. Show opens this Friday (no big deal) and runs Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons through mid-August. The production is practicing all week.

Are you a hero who can keep time? Perhaps one of the many drummers nominated for this week's Humboldt Approved best drummer poll? C'mon! Email HLOC at info@hloc.org if you're able.

Oh, also, if you're looking to do something Wednesday, the Lowdown is still handling that business below.
