Nuisance Flooding On The Way

This morning I had the pleasure of talking with Brad Charboneau of the National Weather Service office on Woodley Island about this current series of storms. We are expecting several inches of rain over the next few days that should push our rain totals to back on track for the year. That is the good news, the bad news is there is some flooding expected. However, we don't expect any major flooding acording to Charbonean. This will be more akin to "Nuisance Flooding." Eel river at Fernbridge is expected to overflow it's banks by Thursday evening into Friday Morning. However, predictions show it only about 1.3' above flood stage. Generally highway 211 does not close until flooding reaches about 3' above flood. Of course this is still a prediction and conditions can change, so use caution. We here at KHUM will keep an eye on it. Pictured above is a major flood at Fernbridge from January 2017.
