33 Votes Separate Sundberg and Madrone - Hank Sims Explains

Cliff Berkowitz / Wednesday, June 6 @ 7:29 a.m. / Elections

With 100% of the precincts reporting, the race for 5th District Supervisor has tightened. As it stands this morning, Steve Madrone is ahead of incumbent Ryan Sundberg by only 33 votes! What does this mean? This morning I spoke with Hank Sims, the Editor of the Lost Coast Outpost to find out.

There are likely over 1000 votes still to be counted. These will come from late mail in ballots, same day registration votes and provisional ballots. Although early mail in ballots have favored Sundberg, historically these later ballots tend to mirror the walk up vote, which favored Madrone.

It will likely be about 2 weeks before we know the results of these ballots. So for now, the race remains too close to call.
