Rick Hall "Father of Muscle Shoals Music" Dead at 85

Rick Hall, record producer, songwriter and owner/operator of FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama died Tuesday morning at 85. Hall founded FAME Recording Studios in 1960 and went on to record hits for an incredible range of artists, from Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett to Country legend, George Jones.
This Rolling Stone article says: "Hall's Grammy-winning production touched nearly every genre of popular music from country to R&B, and his Fame Studio and publishing company were a breeding ground for future legends in the worlds of songwriting and session work, as well as a recording home to some of the greatest musicians and recording artists of all time."
"Muscle Shoals," is a documentary that celebrates FAME studios and tells the story of Hall, the region's musicians, and their distinctive sound that has left a mark on American music.
