Amy Berkowitz / Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017 @ 3:20 p.m. / Activism, Coastal Currents, Community, Environment, Ocean

We had an action packed Coastal Currents today. Delia and I spoke with Jessie Misha, the volunteer coordinator for Surfrider. The second of 5 snapshot reports on the baseline MPA is out; this one is all about the Kelp and Rocky Reef off our coast. You can read it here.

We also talked about Ocean night tomorrow at the Arcata Theater Lounge as a celebration of Coastal Cleanup Day. Next Wednesday, Oct 18, will be pints for nonprofits at Mad River Brewery in Blue Lake. Why have a meeting when you can have a party?

We also talked about the Samoa Trash Bash. (see right)

Pick up trash, take a picture and post it to the Facebook page or instagram #samoattrashbash and enter to win a t-shirt (see below). You can help out between now and the end of November. You can find the sub-group: Samoa Trash Bash under the larger page of Surfrider Humboldt on Facebook.

The annual Black & White Ocean Night is December 1 at the Arcata Theater Lounge. Dress up in black & white, come out for a free party. Lots of fun and prizes!
