Tonight on The South Side | B'day Tribute to Earl King & King Curtis

Chas Lewis / Friday, Feb. 7 @ 3:25 a.m. / Music

Earl King

This week on The South Side, you'll hear tracks from New Orleans Rhythm & Blues storyteller Earl King, who was a driving force in the Crescent City music scene for over forty years. It's also the birthday of great King Curtis, soulful saxman who played on sessions from everyone from Buddy Holly and Duane Allman to Aretha.

Often, when an artist is featured on The South Side, that week's playlist on the show website at www.thesouthside.org features a collection of links, and dozens are archived here.

Tune in to The South Side each Friday night from 7 to 10pm Pacific for a solid mix of blues, soul, R & B, Funk and more with your host, Chas Lewis.

And every week following The South Side, it's two hours of Frank Zappa on "Zen Through Zappa" with Scatch
