UPDATE: It happened. No Wine Of Summer spoilers.

  • Thrill to tales of one coffee drinker/freedom fighter standing his ground in old town against an entire film crew!
  • Gape at the majesty of Malcom DeSoto's red hot career.
  • Recoil as your DJ fiddles with his phone during an interview.

Tune in Thursday at 11am for two local filmmakers, Malcom DeSoto and Maria Matteoli.

DeSoto, a one-man creative power house, founded his production company Runaway Kite in 2010. His focus is integrating animation and live-action and blending the two mediums to form one interesting and powerful reality.

Local Filmmakers Night, collaboration between Access Humboldt, Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission and Eureka High School Media Club, is a screening series that supports and promotes the local film community in Humboldt County.

Following the screening, attendees can enjoy Q & A session with the filmmaker, movie trivia, prizes, and a reception at Access Humboldt's Community Media Center.

Doors open at 6:30. Screening starts at 7pm. Admission is $5 per person and all are welcome to attend. The Eureka High School Lecture Hall is located on Humboldt St. & K St. by the EHS Gymnasium.

Maria Matteoli wrote and directed The Wine Of Summer, showing Saturday night at the Eureka Theater at 6:30 pm.

"The Wine of Summer" is a story of love, both lost and found, of timeless beauty and the brightness of youth. James (Ethan Peck), at the age of 27, quits his law career in pursuit of his childhood dream of becoming an actor.
