Tonight's Cocktail - Rob Roy

Tonight during The Cocktail Hour (6pm-7pm) we'll be celebrating novelist Thomas Wolfe and enjoying his favorite cocktail, the Rob Roy. In a manner similar to the way that a Gibson is simply a martini garnished with an onion rather than an olive, a Rob Roy is a Manhattan that uses scotch instead of rye. Don't waste your expensive single malts on this drink; a blended scotch is not merely acceptable, it's preferred. The recipe follows below.
2 oz. blended scotch
1 oz. Italian (sweet) vermouth
2 dashes Angostura bitters
1 maraschino cherry
Pour scotch, vermouth and bitters into a mixing glass filled with ice cubes. Stir well and strain into a chlled cocktail glass. Garnish with cherry.
