Coastal Currents: Fortuna Creek Water Quality

Mike Dronkers / Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 @ 3:35 p.m. / Activism

How did you spend your free time in high school? Doing science, right?

The Fortuna Creeks Project is an extra-curricular stream monitoring and restoration club at Fortuna High School. Students collect water quality data from three tributaries of the Eel River as well as the river itself.

Students clean up trash, plant native riparian vegetation, and perform habitat assessments.

Wednesday at noon on Coastal Currents, we check with these students to find out how the Lower Eel's tributaries are doing.
