Making the most of your cans, bottle caps, and labels
Arcata, CA- Consuming beer and then crafting sounds like a recipe for creative disaster, however a new book "Beer Crafts: Making the most of your cans, bottle caps, and labels," by Shawn Gascoyn-Bowman provides inspiration and guidelines on how to create after you’ve consumed. SCRAP Humboldt has partnered with Bekki Scotto of Bohemian Mermaid, who is a featured artist in the book and will be hosting two events in celebration of beer and creativity.
The first event will be held on September 7th during Arts! Alive at Bohemian Mermaid at 511 6th Street (6th & F) in Eureka. She will be demonstrating her featured project; crocheting a beer can hat and and visitors will be able to make their own beer party hats as well.
The second event will take place during Arts! Arcata on September 13 at SCRAP Humboldt, Humboldt County’s home for all things creative reuse at 101 H street (on the corner of South G street) in Arcata. Need to find bottle caps for your projects, but don’t want drink? SCRAP has those and more to get your crafty gears turning. The book will be available for purchase, and inspiration will be given away for free.
