Tonight's Story of the Season

Amy Berkowitz / Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012 @ 11:03 a.m.

Solstice is looming with the traditional longest night of the year (although there are several days on either side that are only 9 hours and 15 minutes long here in Humboldt.) As we head towards Friday's celebrations, we look at some of the darker side of Yule. With the longest night of the year, we look at the darkness before we welcome back the light. Tonight's story I gathered years ago from our friend and local storyteller, Ross McKinney; it is simply called a Solstice Story. This one has its roots in the British Isles. Gather the kids around the radio tonight at 9 and hear a wonderfully told tale.
