The South Side * Friday Aug 17th, 7 to 10pm

Chas Lewis / Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 @ 6:33 p.m. / Music

Check out The South Side each Friday night for great Blues & Soul.  Friday the 17th at about 7:30pm, Chas was joined in the studio by the event producer for a feature on the 2012 Blues by the Bay, coming up Labor Day weekend, Sat/Sun Sept 1st and 2nd.

Luther Allison

It was also the birthday of the late Luther Allison (8-17-1939) who was among the most intense electric bluesmen to ever make their way to Chicago from the South.  He soaked up the sounds of Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Robert Nighthawk and then became known for playing one sweat-drenched, hours-long show after another.

You'll hear tracks from throughout his career, along with the usual mix of new releases and classic Blues, Soul and Rhythm & Blues.
