Fri, April 6th 7-10pm on The South Side ~ B'day Tribute to Big Walter Horton

Chas Lewis / Tuesday, April 3, 2012 @ 8:59 p.m. /

Big Walter Horton

In part because he never aspired to be a bandleader, shy blues harmonica man Big Walter Horton was overshadowed by his contemporaries such as Little Walter Jacobs and Sonny Boy Williamson II, though he's considered by many to be the best of the lot.

His distinctive fat tone graced recordings by Muddy Waters, Jimmy Rogers, Otis Rush and many others, and this week on The South Side, we'll hear tracks from him as a solo artist as well as sideman to these legends and others.

During the show, send requests to studio@khum.com   Stay tuned at 10pm as your man Scatch brings you two hours of Frank Zappa on 'Zen Through Zappa.'
